Mitigation

To address the challenges posed by rising temperatures and the associated economic losses, a range of mitigation and adaptation strategies have been explored, tested, and implemented within the blueberry industry. These strategies include the use of in-field cooling systems, improvements in irrigation efficiency, adjustments to harvest scheduling, enhanced post-harvest handling practices, and breeding or selecting cultivars with improved heat tolerance.
